Bygland beers

«Sveikadden Sterk» – Kveika gardsøl

«Sveikadd» is the Setesdal word for a bachelor (unmarried man over 30).
Beer was in the  old days in Norway looked upon as a God’s given gift to man, so they blessed the beer bowls. The stronger the beer was, the deeper their faith grew. If the beer was weak, it was shameful for the farmer. The beer was in fact tested by an inspector. Quite a job, travelling from farm to farm to check if you got drunk enough!

Sveikadden Strong is a traditional Norwegian farm beer brewed with Norwegian grains, juniper and kveik-yeast. The taste and aroma is dominated by malt, fruity aromas from the kveik-yeast, along with a hint of forest and citrus.

The beer is perfect to Norwegian traditional food, or simply as a tasty mouthful.

«Ølgnassen» – Norwegian craft juniper pilsner

When Bygland Brewery startet up, the idea was to only to brew ales with kveik-yeast. As time went by, many people asked if we could also brew pilsner. Then the idea of brewing a new type of pilsner based on Norwegian craft malted barley and juniper twigs infused water occurred. Carefully chosen hops balances the juniper-infused water, and the result is a fresh and easy drinkable beer, with a fruity and bitter finish.

«Ølgnassen» (the Setesdal word for somebody who loves beer) is suitable at all occasions where people are light at heart.

ABV: 4.7% and 5.2% (pub)

«Møykjeddingi» – Kveik NEIPA raw ale

«Møykjeddingi» (Setesdal dialect for an unmarried woman) is a hybrid-beer between New England IPA og Norwegian raw ale.

As the wort is not boiled, the body is rich and cloudy. And as one of the first breweries in Norway, we make use of the Framgården-kveik which is famous for its tropical fruit flavor and aroma. As if that wasn’t enough, we have dry-hopped with three different types of hops – resulting in a truly a delightful juicy kveik hybrid!
